Frequently Asked Questions
What type of equipment is used by DPS to investigate paranormal activity?
We use equipment such as electromagnetic field meters (EMF), digital video, digital photography, digital & analog audio for (EVPs), Infrared DVR cameras, digital camcorders and digital still cameras, and much more that we bring to an investigation to try to not only find tangible evidence of any reported activity, but to try to find answers to why these anomalies are occurring. We do not use dowsing rods, Ouija boards, or Seances. We use Technology-based equipment to either PROVE or DISPROVE any findings.
What is the fee to Investigate?
Our investigations are always FREE to everyone! We do not charge as some groups do. We are always willing to help anyone and everyone who claims to have paranormal activity. We NEVER charge a fee and we are totally CONFIDENTIAL.
Can I talk to someone about doing an investigation?
Yes, by heading over to our Contact Us section or by emailing us at [email protected], we'll be happy to assist you and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Provide your phone number and best time to call.
Can I be present at the time of investigation?
Though we do prefer if you can make accommodations so we can have the place to ourselves, to rule out any possible chance of contamination. We do allow two people over the age of 18 to be present.
How much do you get paid for this?
Absolutely nothing. We NEVER charge a fee to those individuals who allow us access to their property. You give us the opportunity to help you and in exchange you provide us with the opportunity to further our research.
I reside outside of the Ohio Valley, what areas do you cover?
We cover the entire Ohio Valley (Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania) region of the US. Depending on travel involved, we do take cases outside of this area. If we find we are unable to take your case due to scheduling, please rest assure we will refer your case to a reputable team who will assist you. Cases involving children or harm are handled immediately. If you reside outside of the Ohio Valley and we are unable to travel, your case will be referred to a team in your state.
Why do you not use psychics on the Team?
We are strictly technology-minded . This means that all the information that we gather MUST be either tangible evidence or have some relevance to fact. We have nothing against psychics, mediums, or sensitives, and will gladly work with them, but can not rely on their feelings or visions to prove or disprove an event or claim of the paranormal, ghosts, hauntings, etc. All claims must be documented either on video, audio, and even on a physical level at times.
Do Ghosts follow people?
There have been few cases where an entity has followed a person from location to location, so it is not unheard of. There have been instances where a family moves into a home and that home has, unknowing to the family, paranormal activity. Then, when these persons have moved from a location where there is activity to another location, thinking that they will escape the issue, they find that the entity in question that was making their life a living nightmare has become attached to them or a family member for uncertain reasons and has followed them to their new home. But this is extremely rare.
Do you cleanse a location of spirits?
We do not cleanse a home in any way. Though we can contact a Clergy if need be, for more intense situations.
Can you explain what you will be doing while on my property?
We will first do a walk through of the location you request us to investigate. This is when we take notes of areas where we want to set up equipment, and also get baseline readings of Electro Magnetic Fields, temperature, humidity, etc. Then we will proceed with setting up the equipment and monitoring it. Once the actual physical investigation of your property is completed, we'll take down the equipment and do a walk through with the owner to make sure everything is to their satisfaction and left as it was when we arrived.
How long will it take for DPS to notify me of their findings?
This all depends on the size of the property and the amount of audio and video equipment used during your investigation. On large investigations we may use up to 30 IR cameras and 30 audio recorders. Each audio and video recorder will record for no less then 10 hours so multiply 10 hours per each camera and audio recorder used on any particular investigation. This can easily mean anywhere from 50 to 300 hours of audio and video to review, Again this all depends on the size of the location.
