The Darkwoods Mission
Darkwoods Paranormal Society is a small paranormal research group. Our mission is to investigate reports of the paranormal to further our understanding of this little known subject, as well as educate people regarding the paranormal, supernatural or unexplained. To that end, DPS holds a few key tenets to insure that we remain true to ourselves, our clients, and the general public.
DPS approaches every case from a skeptical point of view. This is perhaps the most important principle any paranormal investigator should have. DPS will always search for the most rational explanation first. Many groups will immediately view any anomaly, dust on a picture, or reflection in a window as a "ghost". We never claim to have found evidence of a ghost. We simply state that we found something that we could not explain through a rational explanation.
DPS investigators have a lot of experience, but we are not experts. A lot of groups claim to be "certified" in the paranormal field. They are untruthful. There is no way to become "certified" because there is still no way to conclusively verify any claim of the paranormal. This is why we investigate the paranormal, to look for answers in the hopes that someday, we will have the answers. We always try to replicate results. We always try to test our theories, and we will never come to a conclusion about those theories until they are thoroughly tested. We never claim any "cause and effect" relationships. We only point out correlations.
DPS investigators are not ghost busters. We cannot rid a location of "ghosts" or "spirits,". We also do not do exorcisms, seances, or cleansings. We would never claim to be able to rid a house of a phenomenon, but if needed we would work with you to find someone who possibly can.
DPS does not trespass. This is a matter of respect for our clients, as well as ourselves. We do not investigate any location without full permission by the owners. For one, it can be very dangerous to investigate abandoned locations, and there have been too many stories in the news lately about suspected "ghost hunters" being arrested, injured, or even killed while trespassing in dangerous buildings. Secondly, it is disrespectful and in most cases, illegal.
DPS does not charge for its services. There are many groups who charge clients for their services or evidence disks, or for training courses to become a "certified" paranormal investigator. Or there are so-called psychics and mediums who charge people money to "cleanse" their home. Because there are no experts in this field, and because not much is known about paranormal phenomena, DPS does not charge for any of its services. Anyone who charges money should be avoided at all costs. The only thing you will gain from paying for their services is a smaller bank account.
